Dear Parents, Guardians, and Campers,

Please come join us at Big Cove YMCA Camp this summer as we celebrate its 116th Birthday. As the oldest residential camp in Canada it is quality and tradition that has made Big Cove a leader in residential camping in Nova Scotia. Since 1889 thousands of children and young adults have paddled our beautiful waters, hiked mountains, challenged their fears and forged lifelong friendships.

Big Cove has changed a great deal over the years, however, the benefits and opportunities campers receive remain the same. Nestled in a secluded cove on Merigomish Harbour, Big Cove YMCA Camp is a paradise of forest, field, ocean, marsh and shoreline. Every year we serve hundreds of boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17. As a YMCA camp it is our goal to provide these youth with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, enhance their self esteem, and build an appreciation for the natural environment in a safe, respectful community.

For 116 years Big Cove has meant fun, adventure, and new experiences for the thousands of youth who have come to know it. Whether you are exploring an island, hiking the hills of Cape Breton, learning how to Kayak, or climbing to new heights on our ropes courses, Big Cove YMCA Camp is the place to be this summer. Please join us in the “experience that lasts a lifetime.”
